Commuting with bicycles is allowed on public transit. There are several rules a passenger with a bike must obey:
- Bicycles are not allowed on workdays
- Bicycles can only be transported depending on the capacity and the situation in the vehicle and only with the driver's consent
- Passengers younger than 10 years of age may not transport bicycles unless assisted by an adult
- Passengers carrying bicycles have to purchase an additional ticket for 0.90 €, which is valid for 60 minutes
- More than one bicycle is normally not allowed on one vehicle, the driver might allow more, if the vehicle capacity suffices. Wheelchairs and strollers have higher boarding priority
- Bicycles may not be lifted – they have to be pushed or pulled to their designated space to prevent damage or injury
- One bicycle per passenger – a single passenger may not transport more than a single bicycle
- Passengers carrying bicycles may only board and alight using doors marked with a respective symbol:
- Buses: use the door with the stroller symbol
- Low-floor trams: use the front door
- Other trams: use the last door (of the front carriage, if more are present)
- The passenger carrying a bicycle must ensure it is protected against undesired movement and fasten it with a seat belt, if present
- Passengers with no bicycles have the right of way when boarding or alighting
- The route operator is not responsible for any damage made to the bicycle during its transport. The passenger is responsible for all damage caused by the bicycle during its transport
- Electric bicycles, bicycles with trolleys attached to them may not be transported, neither can bicycles that are too dirty
