Commuting with bicycles is allowed on public transit. There are several rules a passenger with a bike must obey:
- Bicycles are not allowed during peak hours on workdays (6:00 to 9:00 and 13:00 to 18:00)
- Passengers carrying bicycles have to purchase an additional 30-minute discounted ticket for 0.55 €, which is, in this case, valid for 3 hours in all zones
- Bicycles can only be transported depending on the capacity and the situation in the vehicle and only with the driver's consent
- More than 2 bicycles are not allowed on one vehicle. Wheelchairs and strollers have higher boarding priority
- One bicycle per passenger – a single passenger may not transport more than a single bicycle
- Foldable bicycles are considered luggage
- Passengers carrying bicycles may only board and alight using doors marked with a respective symbol:
- Buses and trolleybuses: use the door with the stroller symbol
- Low-floor trams: use the front door
- Other trams: use the last door (of the front carriage, if more are present)
- The passenger carrying a bicycle must ensure it is protected against undesired movement and fasten it with a seat belt, if present
- Passengers with no bicycles have the right of way when boarding or alighting
If you are planning a journey as a larger group of passengers with bicycles, it is possible to book a bus with a bicycle holder attached to it.
In regional buses, bicycles may be transported with similar rules as those for city buses. There are two exceptions:
- Bicycles are only allowed on free days
- Bicycles are only allowed on specific trips, which are determined by the timetable of the corresponding route
On trains, passengers with bicycles must follow the conditions of the specific railway carrier or operator.
